Cabbage 'Greyhound'

Recycling things to use in the garden
and come again salad leaves in the house.  Plastic take away tubs also get used as plant trays in our house. Cut up yoghourt pots etc to use as plant labels. Plastic milk cartons make good compost and bird food scoops just leave the lid on for a by Sam Glendinning

the hell i like them. We live in the New Forest and our garden was a squirrels playground until we put up a squirrel feeder (which is like a bird box with a glass front and a lid) on our huge oak tree and we fill this up with peanuts and monkey nuts by Julie

pretty with raindrops or frost on them at this time of year? Vine Weevils, well if you are not going to kill them your plants will die, the grubs should be dug up and fed to the birds, the birds can't dig them up because they are too deep for the birds by Chalkweed

into the front garden in the snow, must have been looking for leaves to eat. Sadly I didn't see him, only his hoof prints in the snow.I have had success with chilli powder in my bird feeders to keep the squirrels from helping themselves. I agree with you very by arj300882

the insects to just get on with it and let nature redress the balance next year. The sawflies are bound to have predators - try encouraging more birds to visit your garden. The sprays are killing bees and butterflies, which are in serious danger of extinction by Elaine Matthews

Keeping Chickens
birds but lay teeny eggs! I would never be without hens now, they are so worthy of a place in anyones garden. I will definately stick with Brahmas, I love their size, they are very tame and I love their feathery feet! Hello, I only have 2 hens by David K

as we do the birds and they even have names. We have become quite attached to them over the years, yes they try to catch the birds and squirels and are sometimes sucessful but that is nature. We have sparrowhawks which kill the birds but accept by PaulS
