go round in circles...what d'you reckon?  They say snip with scissors is fastest way to kill and then birds will eat.... As yet I haven't been brave enough  We were having some work done at the back of our house this past fortnight and I asked by The Manic Slughunter:)

Can i grow clematis in a trough?
not consider a screen of tall grasses such as miscanthus n big pots?   They'll provide a screen and movement in the breeze and seeds for birds in autumn.  You could add verbena bonariensis to the pots to give small purple flowers that are very attractive by O Osborne

Mini Greenhouse - door open or closed?

Do you think...
and watered it.It had a few little white grubs that looked like woodlouse larvae?? so the birds had them and now it's sitting resting until planting out time. I think half the fun is watching your plants grow Bookertoo.Couldn't afford mature trees even if i by Klink

gravel bed/border ... replace with bark?
with bark as it can be blwon around in strong winds, can be pecked and trewn about by birds looking for insects and also allows weeds to self sow quite easily. For the soil you want to plant up, yes, add well rotted compost or manure, some fine grit by djjjuk

Talkback: Swifts, newts and decking
! The man from the Council told me that decking is a favourite home for rats, together with left-over bird food. I think we have got rid of them now, but just keep an eye out for any burrowing underneath the decking going on. On the positive side i have a by Frieda (London)
