Hosta flowering - shall I or shan't I?
I usually remove flowering stalks from my hostas so that they build up strong crowns - I grow hostas for their architectural leaves, not the flowers.    But, one of my Blue Angels is throwing up a really fat looking flower spike - shall I be strong by Dovefromabove

Recommend a rambling rose
big garden and in a tiny shady back yard. Love it  Buff Beauty is gorgeous but not really a rambler, it's a hybrid musk and more of a shrub rose. The best rambler I know is Perrenial Blue, flowers all summer, smells wonderful and is ewtremely tough by Busyliz

plants for part shade/ full shade
Ursulas red. Silver grey/blue foliage with red stems.Bowles golden grass is beautiful.....yellow stems, leaves and billowing flower heads. Plant with aster frikartii monch for blue n yellow from late summer. Squeeze in rudbekia Goldsturn too for late by Gardengirl..

Does anyone know what this is?
the tops they tend to end up with all the growth at the top and half a metre of bare trunk underneath.  They are quite hardy, even though the flowers look exotic.  The flowers come in various shades, from white through pink, purple and lavender blue.  They by Mattbeer87

special day.   You'd have to pot some up and bring them under cover before the event. Timing would be tricky but Chelsea gardeners have mastered the art of flowering plants at the wrong time. Have you ever cut blubells for arrangements? Mine have always by andrea 4

Talkback: In the pink
hydrangeoides 'Roseum', as this has pink flowers. An image search on Google will show you. Hydrangeas are hardy shrubs, but new shoots can be damaged by frost in early spring. Delay pruning until spring as the old stems provide some frost protection. Then keep a by johnathan
