Using vinegar to kill weeds
, thistles, and established bramble as well as the annual weeds. I think the annuals can simply be hoed into the soil, and as long as they are not flowering or setting seeds, will just dissapear quietly as long as the ground is hoed regularly to stop them re by Tim Burr

Gauntlets
Hi all, I was watching GW on Friday and Monty was wearing a pair of elbow length gauntlets while pruning a rambling rose.  I have tried a couple of pairs, which I suspect were of lower quality than Monty's, but still get spiked by brambles (mainly by Andrew Crawley

getting rid of ground elder
combination of digging it out, waiting for it to reappear and then BRAMBLE KILLER. Had to do that 2 years running, but haven't seen any in 5 years now. I personally find bindweed and brambles harder to get rid of, and more unsightly too. thank you i thought by little-ann

Talkback: Suppressing weeds with carpet
I totally agree about not using carpet. It seems very popular on my allotment site, but I am still digging it up! We put down some systemic weedkiller last year to try to kill the brambles and I only now realise why they had not been killed off by John- Stockport

As many of you already know, I am fighting a battle with Brambles at the minute, there is a temporary truce as the weather is so bad, but come the sunshine I need to go back on the offensive with them.  I was wondering what pruning gloves by Mummy Muddy Paws
