personal experience on composting

grass clippings at base of established azalea
week with the coming season.  My query is that with the massive amount of grass clippings I'm taking from the area behind my cottage, it is proving too much to put in the brown bin which only gets collected every 2 weeks, and too much to be taking by Kezza

September I planted it in a shady spot in the garden and it continued to thrive. Sadly the leaves gradually turned brown and hard when the temperature hit minus 16 celsius, even though I covered it with a bell cloche. I finally got round to putting by auntyskitchen

Weeds in my compost
, the longer you leave it the more it will rot. Are you doing a heap or is it encased? Can you still see the brambles because I would pull them out and dispose of them. Where are you planning on using it when it is ready? If it is a small project you could by Supernoodle

Seaweed
Living on the coast I can easily collect seaweed - mainly brown.My father in law used to tell me that it was used a lot in the Channel Islands.How best can I make use of it, either as a plant food or soil conditioner ? Can I just give a word by Jackers

Composting Problem
it till autumn, then cover & leave for a year. I'm finding when I come to use it  there is some wonderful brown, crumbly soil, but a lot of it has turned into a dry, orange, fibrous mass which I doubt has any nutritional value at all. So I end up by Rachel Ormrod

What is going on with my Clematis?
then brown, at which point they start to fall off. I have removed the leaves as soon as I see it start to happen but it makes no difference. The roots are in the shade under slate and the tops are in sun. Anyone have any ideas as to how to stop this happening by Joolz13

HELP Please! Anyone know what this is?
I have looked but cannot see what this plant / tree is called. The main stem is brown and hairy, very smooth soft hair. Any ideas???  Thank You!         Oh that looks like one of those suckering tree type plants that people let go wild by MindyWillis
