It Doesn't Always Have to be an Afterthought
If considered in detail, landscaping can be the ultimate compliment to the building in which it surrounds. It doesn’t only have to be about soft landscape either; many schemes are let down due to the poor quality of paving materials, step details by George Barnes

when to sort out daffodils
Hi   All my Daffs are gone - do I cut them down or what? Cut the heads off,and leave the leaves to die down naturally so they build up the flower buds for next year. If you chop the leaves off now you won't get flowers next year. A bit of a feed won by Mutley200

Planting lawn from scratch
Due to recent building works my back lawn has been completely removed of grass and the surface is now just compacted dirt. I want to grow a lawn back but I'm not entirely sure where to start when it comes to preparing the area for sowing grass seed by Alice Graveling

growing asparagus in containers
Is it possible to grow them in containers? Thinking of giving a veg loving friend one but he has lost his border due to the landlord building a bike rack on the site. You can - there's even this YouTube video telling you how: http by Swedboy

Aconitum (aka monkshood / wolfs bane)
plant stays healthy and strong. If you don't want the seeds for sowing or self sowing, then cut off the flower stalks so the plant transfers its energy from seed ripening to healthy roots and foliage, thus building a stronger plant for next year. by Tim Burr

Talkback: Bleeding heart and foamflower pot display
Thanks for this, I'm keen to build up a collection of native woodland plants like these. Can anyone suggest any others? I already have foxgloves and cowslips - further suggestions gratefully received! Happy gardening! Pulmonnaria and Aquilegia by Burly_Elmwood

Ants in a Herb Garden
We have a Community Herb Garden in which we grow Thyme. Unfortunately Ants are building nests under the spreading thyme and destroying them. What can we do?     Ants love dry ground, is there any way that you can make it damper to deter them?  I had by marigold3
