Bees

Talkback: Garden wildlife and autumn tidying
of small front gardens all different however, as they are providing a range of habitats for the bees and butterflies. Some of them prefer the spring show, some summer and some look great in autumn with lots of berries and Michaelmas daisies. Here lies by Richard Jones

pulling them up. Are they really such a nuisance? Many butterfly caterpillars, particularly the peacock butterfly   Whoops, some thing went wrong there, got cut off! What also wanted to say was, perhaps you could just leave one or two plants for them? Hi by Bunny..

"We never see butterflies in the garden" says my mother, then when cleaning out the log store over Xmas she finds two hibernating peacock butterflies. So they were there, we replaced them as best we could, the covered log pile seems to desirable by rudy bryan

How & when erisimum & scabious cuttings?
I'm not very experienced wtih cuttings, could anyone tell me when & describe how to take them from erisimum bowles mauve & scabious butterfly blue? They're both meant to be hardy but I don't want to take any chances & would like more of them by Lokelani

Herb infestation
outdoors. Could  these yellow eggs have been laid by butterflies?   I have never seen them before. Yes there are little white eggs on the stems and under a couple of the leaves there are yellow eggs and I noticed at least 2 of them have a horizontal black by phoenixx87

Plants for narrow border
problem in the way that wasps might be.   You'd get lovely perfume and butterflies too. I once planted a border along the path in my back garden with lavender. It attracted many bees and also hoverflies. I went to the line with a basket of washing one day by Berkley

Which Delphinium seeds?
. Perhaps I'll sow some seeds for next year, but also buy some plants for this year.  Thanks geoff I haven't the room for great big delphiniums but I usually grow a dwarf variety  delphinium chinensis blue butterfly (as an annual) from seed. It flowers by LeadFarmer
