This beautifull bright blue butterfly was flying around my allotment today.  it's wings underneath are not so bright but it would not open its wings when it landed which wasn't for long. It was very small not sure if it is a common blue or holly by Aliesh

Plants to attract butterflies
Has anyone grown Verbena Lollipop?  How attractive to butterflies is it? Is it as good as Verbena bodnatense? They love it! (Think you meant verbena bonariensis. ) by Sir Tid

Talkback: First butterflies of the year
Wow this is amazing I love butterflies. Spring is my favourite time of the year because that is when there are most of them. Once my step-cousin once removed ate one by accident, he said it tasted weird. I was watching a peacock butterfly a few days by C Pattinson

Cabbage Butterflies & Nasturtium
) to tempt the Butterflies on to the Nast. instead. I'm slightly confused though as wouldn't growing both increase the number of Cabbage Butterfly & caterpillars overall on the cabbages? Or is it a case of using the Nast. to tempt them in so they can be, ahem by Leggi

Peacock butterflies that have overwintered in my garage are having a great time on my winter(?) -flowering heathers. They love feeding there as much as the painted ladies do later on at the phuopsis. I do attempt to photograph my butterflies by Pauline Claire

Talkback: Big Butterfly Count
We're seeing less butterflies in our garden too, whereas we used to have loads. Yesterday I saw a holly blue, a second generation one. One of the things they feed on, apparently, is honeydew, the stuff that comes out of aphids's bottoms. It's great by Fran
