Talkback: Blackbirds and blackberries

Talkback: The first bumblebee of the year
White Butterfly has woken up, Spring Cabbage netted to keep them off. Yes we have shredded leaves on the verbascum thanks to the cabbage white caterpillars! I saw my first bumble bee in the garden today 4.04.09: Knighton, Liecester. I think it came from by Dancer

What's loving all this rain?
and gooseberries especially. We are going to sow some winter/spring cabbage to see if that does any good. You need to be an optimist to garden, just hope for the best tomorrow, it's a new day. Hostas, golden hop, hardy geraniums, these are all delighted by Leggi

lasted for over a month. However it is fascinating to see them taking all the caterpillars from our cabbages. Also their nests are in holes in the ground which I did not realise. We have had a wasps' nest somewhere in the garden for the last 5 years by mmfp
