Scented flowers
about them.  Growing some from seed, self saved and bought.  Plus I've several bishop types and cactus tubers that I've had for two years, new pom poms this year. What varieties would you recommend?   I grow them all in pots. Thanks Lavender by David Hurrion

Talkback: Preparing for drought in the garden
it comes to summer bedding I think sun loving pelargoniums (zonal geraniums) will be featuring highly in my selection.I'm also following happymarion's idea and growing those beautiful daisy-flowered osteospermums. What else? Succulents like aeoniums by happymarion

decorative pots
small bamboo (upright and evergreen, but not very original), or perhaps an agave, or a selection of alpines or succulents, or maybe a Zantedecia (can look good in a black pot).Make sure that the pot has a decent drainage hole. Pansy2, I would put a Thuja by pansy2

Small garden, where to start?
is not to neglect your walls and fences. I had and am having loads of fun with hanging baskets, pots screwed into the fence, and succulent 1/2 orbs hung on my fences. Another thing I'm trying this year is garden mosaics, a nice backdrop to plants, you can use by Emma Lucy

keeping mice off pea seeds
with other plants too? Unfortunately they like all seedlings really, they do tend to go for the more succulent ones and will often dig up seeds to eat. I've tried humane traps but with no success, getting cats seems to have worked for me (not deliberately by tulipgirl

Talkback: Slugs
wake up to find they have rivals to their succulent lettuce etc.I now have a bucket of salty water nearby and drop the slugs into it. I figure that at least the same slugs won't produce anymore offending offspring. The slugs in the garden looks like by Elisabeth Telford

think of the blackbirds Monty !
.  Thanks for the picture Terri.  I will go out and check mine for berries now.  They do look like typical honeysuckle succulent berries but I'm sure I've never had any on mine.  So mine could be Lonicer purpusii maybe.  Don't know. Incidentally as you all by Terri Quincey

Talkback: Big Butterfly Count
of the credit crunch surely it would be more cost effective if more councils were encouraged to do this. I've actually spotted quite a few butterflies in my garden this year, including lots of red admirals that seem to love a cactus dahlia I'm growing! I'm lucky by Fran
