Butterflies
This year I have had 3 long caterpillars.  About 1.5 inch long.  Not sure if these are  going to turn into butterflies or not? Probably. Can you describe them? And what plants did you see them on? One was on a rose bush and one was on a geranium by Kitty4

Identification help
Hi, we have found some visitors in our garden - they are bright green caterpillars with darker green chevrons on them.  They are currently sitting on my Acer in the garden.  Does anyone know which species they are?  My husband wants to get rid by Nicky Starley

Good idea, Kate. My nettle patches are growing strongly now so i should be able to harvest some and leave the rest for the caterpillars till I cut them in June. I saw my first Speckled wood butterfly this morning - near my potting shed which by happymarion

Disease
'd guess that the culprits are snails. If you go out at night with a torch you may find them at work. There may also be caterpillar present - check the backs of the leaves carefully. Thanks I will try that. Just spotted it - light green small caterpillar by Marianne2
