dirty nails
will be doing that . another one is to hang the ends of soap or a bar from your outside tap in some old tights, that way between dirty and clean garden jobs you dont have to take your wellies off and go indoors to do it  l have used this method for years l put by rosie plum

Bird seed falling in pond
into the pond - an incredible amount of seed as it turns out.  The only way of cleaning it out is to take the whole pond apart, disconnect the pump, take out all of the rocks and then spend a few hours with a fine net trying to scoop up the seeds by Lunarz

Help - Water in water butt covered in green slime
the water in 1 of the water butts has developed a coveing of green slime, which now has 'bubbles' in some areas as well. Is it ok to use for watering plants or should I dump all the water and clean out the butt? It's just because the water been by newby gardener

Good advice, Kate. And it's not just bird feeders that must be kept clean, but bird baths too. Possibly it's even more important to keep bird baths clean, and I scrub mine every month.I've also recently emptied out a bird nest box, and sterilised by Adam Pasco

So with you there, Pippa, as long as it is not too cold. Stretching my legs at the Brisol Bot. Garden on Thursday in between cleaning seed sessions my lungs actually hurt with the intensity of the cold as it was below freezing. But it looks like by happymarion
