Holes in soil
Hopefully the attached picture will show the problem. It looks as though something has just been poking holes everywhere. No worm casts, just

Using gravel trays
in clay pots. I buy bags of pea gravel from wickes they are nicely bagged and
clean
to take home in my wee car. Yes bury the pots slightly just an inch or two. Fill the gravel to the top of the gravel trays or 4 inches or so Thank you Weejenny

Purple Sprouting attack
have eaten half of some of the leaves and on 2 plants the top two leaves

Bay pests
is remove any leaves I see that have curled over, if I delay the eggs hatch into small white insects. How can I prevent the eggs being laid? They sound like Mealybug. You can spray with a horticultural oil which will suffocate them. I usually
