composting
This is my second composter.  It is standing on top of a tree stump. I've noticed some toad stools (fungi) around the edge of the composter. Can this have any effect on the compost, which is three quaters full by tomstattyead

composting
I was wondering - is it ok to put ivy prunings and moss on the compost heap or will they regenerate? I have a lot of cripsy brown rhododenrdron leaves too - they are such sturdy leaves will they compost down or would it be best to just burn them all by nightgarden

I had two composting boxes built a couple of years ago in an area of the garden that was thick with bindweed and ground elder and subsequently the bases of the boxes are sitting on several layers of thick membrane. I have covered to tops by Big Pete

Compost
Is it possible to use old potting compost for growing carrots and salad crops? Would it be o.k. to add fish blood and bone to it as a fertilizer?   I have heard that you are meant to throw it away as it has lost it's nutrients and may contain fungal by Alfierawes

This weekend I pruned my Euonymous emerald 'n' green & was hesitant on putting the cuttings in the 'darlek' to compost down as they have a bit of a waxy feel to them. Do they compost well? What other type of prunings DO NOT ie Laurel, Photina by Chris Norton

Compost Problems
I have this year sieved my first batch of home made compost, to find I have 2 problems. 1 The compost dries out very quickly, much quicker than the bought stuff. 2 There appears to be lots of dormant seeds in the compost which are now germinating by jezzer3
