Composting Problem
3 years ago, I inherited a large, mature garden. I've made my own compost heaps using chicken wire. I make sure there is a good mix of materials, not too much of anything and nothing on the 'forbidden' list. I start the heap in Spring, filling by Rachel Ormrod

Composter advice
I need to buy a composter or two for my new city garden and would appreciate some advice, please? From information supplied by my local council I see there are two sizes - 220 and 330 litre. The 220 litre is 740 cm in diameter and 900 cm in height by Citygardener

The price of compost
Morning, glorious in notts this morning. May I ask, would you say that three bags of 60l compost for ??10 is good value? Thanks Not bad value .... which one is it Toots 3 for 12 euro 56 litre bags (grow wise) is normal, 3 for 2 shamrock 75 litres by Tootles

Compost tea
Do you use compost tea? If so is it as effective as they say and is it safe to use on vegetables? As an avid compost maker taught by my Father many eons ago I have never used the stuff and in fact had never heard of it so looked it up.Sounds like by Liz Hanley

Compost heap
At this time of year there is not much dead material to add to the compost heap rather than the weekly grass cuttings, a few weeds and a bit of kitchen waste. I do put in some shredded newspaper and I turn the heap ocassionally but the amount by Rocket60

Morning all! Is lavender a suitable addition to a compost heap? I gather it has antiseptic properties and I'm concerned that it may have a detrimental effect on the useful bugs in the compost heap! Can anyone help? Pamela, not quite sure what you by Pamela14
