Talkback: How to grow sunflowers from seed
I have sown some dwarf sunflower seeds in seed trays - never grown these before so complete novice! they are coming through now and about an inch high - I can only grow them on in containers but no idea how many seedlings to one container - any by MargieKerr

most gardening stuff does not contain this to keep the price down. We used have PP ropes on our boat which just frayed and disintegrated after a couple of years outside. Perhaps the answer is to spend a bit more money and buy quality - but it's still a by dmball

Plant direct or seed tray
by the dreaded carrot fly (another topic that will no doubt is very close to your hearts) (and they were in a raised 1mtr bed 3ft in old money) back to my help question has anyone had success transferring carrot plant from the seed tray to the garden? Mine weren by Cornish Boy up North

Tulips in Pots
leaves with no flowers. To guarantee a good display next year I would plant the old ones in a quiet corner of the garden and buy some new ones for the containers. If in doubt do nothing. Many bulbs flower for years and years so save yourself some effort by wisehedgecrone

Too many raspberries
along. It's nigh on impossible to contain Raspberries and they will come up anywhere and everywhere, growing twenty feet from the parent plant with no distinction between lawn, paving or the neighbour's lawn! So, what to do about this? Some gardeners mow by Blueboots

Pond Plants
gravel but i have always used basic loam soil from an area of the garden that has not had fertiliser added to it in recent years.  I had a first class pond in my old garden using plain 3 ltr flower pots as containers ( saves on expensive planting baskets by reynolds

will they do well in a large container over winter outside? I ordered my garlic a few weeks ago and still waiting for them to arrive. They are solvent whites. and it is also my first time in planting garlic. I plan to put them in the garden would by wendy

, or do you need compost as well? Although it contains some food, compost's main contribution to the garden is to improve the texture of the soil. If topsoil has been improved with compost, plants find it easier to put down roots and take nutrients by carolinebell55@hotmail.com

Plants and shrubs in containers.
'll just get loads of foliage and no flowers. Oddly enough I grew some nasturtiums in containers this year and it didn't really work as I tried the no feed regime and they were not happy- moved some to the garden and they are healthy with green leaves by jean riley
