growing asparagus in containers
://www.ehow.com/video_6533958_plant-asparagus-container-garden.html The compost she's talking about is just a fibrous compost, and I'd be inclined to use a bigger pot than she is doing. Thanks for the link. I'll have a gander now. by Swedboy

Runner beans.
For several years I have been growing Runner Beans in containers, this is just to have an extra supply near the house, and indeed for interest. As there is a plentiful supply of farm yard manure I always place a generous amount in the base, and top by cowslip2

Cucumbers
. If you don't have a spot in the garden, they grow very well in a decent-sized container on a sunny terrace or wherever. Watering is even more important in containers. yes important to not plant too deeply as they can rot at the base. Give them plenty room by Dolphin_in_the_deep

Is it possible to use old potting compost for growing carrots and salad crops? Would it be o.k. to add fish blood and bone to it as a fertilizer?   I have heard that you are meant to throw it away as it has lost it's nutrients and may contain fungal by Alfierawes

free seeds
Well I carefully saved my free seed packets from various gardening magazines and kept them unopened waiting for the weather to improve. So I was a little dissapointed and perhaps naive to see how few each contained. Still I won't look a gift horse by Jamjaf

Twisted willow
I've recently rescued a twisted willow from a garden centres reduced section for the grand sum of £3, however the care label was missing and I have no idea what its preferences are, do they like shade, full sun etc? Can they grow in a container (I by Hazypopz

Wild Garlic
Does anyone grow wild garlic please? I took over this garden and it is over run with it. It seems to be a bit of a weed here. It needs shade, reasonable drainage and moisture, and that's about it. Don't plant it in the ground because it spreads by jatnikapyar
