Gardens devoid of life
like stems and leaves too. I don't know why we have to have steel structures to symbolise something. Why lay down astro-turf and add dull metal. Why plain old timber when real trees could take it's place? What's wrong with a great cottage garden full by Mrs Evans

any suggestions
in these conditions.  If you don't know what their plants are called, try asking - a good way to meet them and make new friends.   You could go to Dove cottage nurseries and gardens near Shibden Hall in Halifax or York Gate gardens near Leeds for some ideas. Both make by PLP

Broadcasting poppy seeds into the border
mum calls it a mess but i say its a cottage garden. Each to his own i guess I did this a couple of weeks ago but I think only one or two have germinated. Not sure if it was due to the bad weather or the seeds, which came from a seed swap and collected by Tim Burr

weed, plant or veggie?
Aquilegia. A pretty cottage garden flower. Looks just like an Aquilegia to me. A self-seeding flower that will pop up most places & flower the following year. Very pretty cottage garden type of spring flower, but not nec one that you may want in your veg by Mizz

Concrete layer in flower bed area - what can I do?
Hi - I'm a first time gardener, (my only experience to date is a few pots of gerianiums outside my front-door.) I'm trying to create a flower bed around the perimeter of my lawn but yesterday I discovered a layer of concrete in the flower bed area by Newbie Gardener
