Front garden very uninteresting
and, if I ever get on top of the couch grass will then plant a selection of shrubs and a few perennials using a colour scheme of red/orangs with odd bits of blue. There is a Queen Elizabeth rose(pink) but can't move that as the neighbours gave it me by Rosa carriola

A garden full a weeds!
didn't spray and they rotavated without removing any weeds and all the couch grass, creeping buttercup and cinquefoil crept back into the flowerbeds. Depends on how fast you want the land cleared. Quickest method but back breaking. Hand fork out all by Mrgreengiant

Meconopsis (Himalayan Blue Poppy)
seen how high they grow am having doubts.  Does anyone know whether this would be enough space for them to grow, please? I had 4 plants in a similar space in a shady border, but sadly last year had to dig them up as couch grass had invaded the root by jaci20

Very large garden - where to start
, and a feature with two raised leaky ponds, small lawn and more shrubs....and my cherished herb patch which my friend tells has couch grass and needs to be scrapped. I've sprayed the jungle a couple of times now, and it's still looking messy by Blueboots

Nettles
and tending and they'll be easy enough to keep cleared - easier than groundsel and bittercress and creeping buttercups and thistles and couch grass which are also a constant feature in my garden no matter how often I weed and hoe. I too try to be as organic by Wendy8

What does rotivation do?
you tried one yourself. You can hire them by the day. Another disadvantage is that if there are nasty perrenial weeds such as couch grass, horsetail, bindweed, ground elder to name but 4 ( there are lots more), the rotovator will chop them up by Jamesyjables

Talkback: Creeping buttercup
with buttercups round my roses. Better meaning more attractive, more interesting and less thuggish.  My garden is also "the right place" for nettles, thistles, couch grass, chick weed and sticky bud, none of which I choose to grow or encourage. Increasing by mavis8491

Talkback: Gooseberry bushes
no sign that there were ever any berries at all. What on earth has happened to them? Are they liked by any creatures apart from humans? What weed killer can I put round my gooseberry bushes to get rid of couch grass, which is growing up through by Christine Williams
