Bay tree - 20foot high looks poorly
of new growth. If it really looks dead at the top cut it back to make a bush. I did that in my last garden and it grew up again very quickly, not a tree but lots of bush, by moatel@aol.com

How & when erisimum & scabious cuttings?

to go into the garden  - for this year could you thin out some of the branches so that you can 'see through' it and still get (and give) the benefit of the butterflies and bees - and then take some cuttings - then when your cuttings are big enough by firebird2110
