Nothing will grow - suggestions please!
I live in a terraced house with a smallish garden.  There is a patch along one border where I cannot get anything to grow.  There used to be a large conifer there in my garden (cut down 3 years ago) and my neighbour has a large conifer adjacent by Ruth Green

Weeping trees dragging on the ground
I have two weeping trees as above which are constantly 'sweeping' the bark mulch around and under them on to the lawn. Will I cause problems for the trees if I cut the ends of the stems off?  If it should be OK, when is the best time to do it please by nightingalebrook

Lawn cre
, following the instructions on the pack re when to apply/water.cut etc.   ...and resist the temptation to cut grass too low.  Higher cut looks better, creates healthier lawn and resists drought.....if we get into that....better.  Not too high but just by Jazzy2

creating a cut flower border
have proved successful for me. Cosmos, Dahlias, Sweet Peas and Wallflowers. All can be grown from seed, so quite economical. http://www.gardenersworld.com/how-to/projects/basics/how-to-create-a-cuttings-patch/96.html http by followinghim
