couple of days of inside at night, putting outside in day until they are used to the temperature change- hardening off. Decent compost, a John Innes type 2 or 3 would be fine if keeping them outside in pots. Deadhead the flowers as the season goes on by Chris9

Best and worst
, especially if I've grown it from seed. Deadheading flowers in the Summer time is a close second for me. Sowing and pricking out seed I also enjoy. Also like planting spring bulbs as I know the rewards will be woth it The worst is dealing with creeping by Brumbull

live in quite a high area in Central Scotland. Oh for a bit of warmth- and I think the plants are wishing the same. Mines the same Maggie, the yellow buds are only just visible. As for deadheading daffodils, hardly any out yet. Forsythia and floweriing by MaggieL

Plant identification please
. Ideal requirements are a sheltered site in shade or part-shade in moist, peaty, acid soil. Cut off any frost-damaged spring shoots as soon as possible. Dead-head after flowering to improve growth. You could give it a mulch of ericaceous compost now by Jo Stephenson

Talkback: Growing eryngiums
will give you teasels forever in your garden, like forget-me-nots and foxgloves! The bees love the flowers and the goldfinches love the seeds so you do not deadhead, hence teasels forever. But they are statuesque plants in themselves like eryngiums are. Hi by donutsmrs

potting compost and covered with grit, and left in cool shady spot. They are also good at self seeding everywhere, but I dont tend to have this as I deadhead the plant to keep flowing as long as possible then take any seed heads for sowing into trays by happymarion

Can I move my peony?
these they died instantly once replanted.   Mulch in spring ,Stake the stems,water in dry weather,deadhead faded blooms,and feed with general fertiliser in late summer,hope this helps! Thanks for the advice.  I am an amateur, what would i mulch with?  A mulch by Amateur82

.   Blue Angel needs to be cut back to a few buds above soil level every spring and the other two need a to be dead-headed and fed after their first flush of flowers in May/June.  That way, you'll get a second flush of  flowers in late summer. Is there a by freshairfanatic

What was the name of that lovely plant
on and then plant out - not to mention deadheading and weeding etc etc !!! As mentioned, I'm going to let one or two self-seed this year but also thought I might try sowing some seed in September and see what happens. The ones in the garden will be going to seed by Ken Wallace
