I read the "no dig" veg plot in this months magazine with interest, and wondered whether could apply the technique to my shrub borders. Thinking about it my ground elder problem is worse in the more dug areas. I was going to spend Saturday pulling by Supernoodle

Digging in the Wet
While digging in the wet is often extremely muddy and heavy work, does it harm the soil at all? Is there any sound reason, besides the difficulty, not to do it? Stepping on the soil, even in dry weather, tends to compact the soil, and force air out by Phytographer

Why are blackbirds digging the garden
In all the years I have been gardening and feeding birds this is the first year that the blackbirds have decided to dig up everything in sight.  The garden looks a complete mess after a couple of days, bark mulch all over the paths, bulbs and plants by Jobird

Digging up Spotted Laurel
effective method of getting rid? I am unsure of how far down the roots go, and if I don't dig them all out, am curious as to the likelihood of the plant doing a Doctor Who on me... The job is being made more difficult by dry soil and the roots from a nearby by wendy8
