Red dogwood
Hi - in the recent torrential rain my red dogwood in an island bed has been trashed and is now half it's height and won't stand upright again. Is it too late to cut all the bent stems (about half the shrub) hard back or shall I stake it? I don by roxy2

Is it ok to prune my dogwood at this time of yea?, it's getting a bit too big ! I hard pruned my dogwood in early spring, this is the traditional time to prune it to ensure you get the coloured stems over winter. Sometimes I do a little 6 inch trim by fionaf

Dogwood Cuttings
    If these are the coloured stemmed dogwoods I'd go for layering, then you don't have to water though the summer or do anything much else. Just pin a long stem down onto some loosened soil and it will root. I'm gradually spreading them over a bank by this method. Pin down by Jammy2

suggestions? Thanks   The idea of growing Cornus (Dogwood) is for the coloured stems to liven up the garden in winter so go easy on the pruning.They do nothing but leaf up all summer then drop the leaves and colour up from bright red through the spectrum by ronan q

variagated dogwood tree

Hi Kate we have two Escallonia growing along the fence with tubular flowers mixed in with dogwood and cotinus and a flowering cherry and pyracantha and cotoneaster all growing happy together ,they have been in about 7 years and are well over grown by oldchippy

After the storms.......
