lawn brown ead and dying patches...
picture tomorrow.   Is it the grass that is dying, or is it heaps of soil from ants' nests? By the way, it won't be dragonfly larvae as they lay their eggs in ponds.  I expect your neighbour means cranefly larvae (known as leatherjackets) - they eat by gardeningfantic

Question for a calm winter moment
. Sometimes I make my way carefully through my land. Dragonflies and moths fly up in a flurry. Honeybees buzz from blossom to blossom. Part the leaves and I see insects, spiders, frogs, lizards, and many other small animals bustling about in the cool shade by ThaiGer

If you were an amphibian, would you want to live here?
and toads travel long distances.  Dragonflies and newts too.  Just leave the pond be and things will come. The birds will bring things in on their feet, too. But if you leave that watercress in there you'll never see them through the foliage, and one by JodeJay

Tin Can Recycling
I thought I would share these to let folk see how dull my evenings are with no gardening. 1 tin can, 1 blowtourch and some old wire and a pair of snips and an hour = a small family of Dragonflies. These will look great on the tops of canes by Sam Glendinning

Talkback: Summer berries
is this and should it be removed or not? Hello Dragonfly,Don't worry about cutting them back now, lots of people cut them back at harvest time so that they can pick the berries more easily. It shouldn't be a problem. The main thing is to keep them very well watered by auntyskitchen

desperate for advice please
you! You could buy an old half barrell and line it with plastic and make a pond out of it with a ramp so frogs etc can get in and out. You can put bricks in it to make shelves for water plants etc and you then may get dragonflies. In addition, hedghogs by clints
