Talkback: Planting box plants

This is my second composter.  It is standing on top of a tree stump. I've noticed some toad stools (fungi) around the edge of the composter. Can this have any effect on the compost,which is three quaters full by tomstattyead

hydrangea
Hi, I bought a well established white hydrangea this summer which was going along quite nicely. Since returning from my holiday I've noticed the leaves have gone brown round the edges, the flowers are fine but not the leaves. Could it of been over by Loz

Grass Seed for Allotment Paths
Allotment is 7 months old I am straightening the edges of the paths and need to sow grass on the new infills of soil I am concious that there are different strengths or thickness of grass What is the name of a good hard wearing grass and dont say by NewBoy2

Ferns
't like using them but needs must if I am to get rid of them.  One has even grown at the edge of the pond and is pushing the slate edging up.  As long as they are not bracken, they are very susceptilbe to tranlocatable weed killers. Bracken a bit more by Elizabeth Winstanley

Surround for a preformed pond
My husband dug the hole in the summer and fitted a preformed pond. It has an undulating shape. My problem is how to surround it so that the edge is neatened up because at the moment it is getting warped and doesn't look very attractive. He has just by rubber

Garden pinks
I just love garden pinks, every year I plant an edging of pinks and after every winter they have  disappeared   What am I doing wrong? Probably nothing - many of them are actually annuals. If yours are definitely perennials, then drainage may by ippikin

black spots

Grass shears
I am 65 and find cutting grass edges quite tiriing.  I am about to renew my garden shears and wonder if anyone can give me advice about the best shears to buy.  I cannot get along with the long handled ones as they are too heavy.  I see single by spikey
