Ants in the lawn
Does anyone have a lawn covered with mounds of soft earth brought up by ants ?  It looks a real muddy mess when it's been mowed.  I have three ants nests in my lawn and a red ants nest right on the edge of the border with the grass. I also have a by celia2

, and don't feed too much. Personally I would grow it amongst herbaceous plants, maybe clove scented pinks round the edges for more scent, and taller herbaceous plants or sping, summer or autumn bulbs amongst the roses. Hope this helps a bit. English roses by rosiehelenmac

Seeking help identifying my soil type

Push mowers
the Fiskars momentum reel mower?  It's very pricey but wondering if it would be worth investing in for a small lawn that is curved and edged with stone. There are 2 reviews of the Fiskars on Amazon, both favourable. Though the reasons why the customers liked by quercus_rubur

to do before you can plant stuff. Sorry! Jo, there are quite a few wildflowers that absolutely thrive on the kind of ground you've got.  Rosebay Willow Herb and Buddleia to name two! You only have to look at any derelict industrial site or at the edges by GRACELAND
