North West corner of garden

Kate I remember on my way to school when I was about 8 seeing Goldfinches in some one's garden and thinking how wonderful they looked and how we never had bird's like that in our garden,I thought they were quite exotic and where did they get them by oldchippy

Unidentified plant with seeds at Holehird, Cumbria
these (as far as I could see). Does anyone have any idea what they are? They were in an area that was mainly planted with Primulas...    I'd love to know what they are, as they just look so exotic and alien. *edited to add, the label that you can see says by Melen

Alstroemeria overwintering
bad winters-before that they were in a container and were quite happy in an unheated greenhouse over winter-my feeling is despite their exotic look they are a lot hardier than we think As Alina says split in the spring by sunnylou

Hello All, Plants are expensive creatures - particularly when you have a garden almost stripped bare. I'm after a range of plants, grasses which will act as a screen between neighbours and give that 'exotic' touch. Talking obvious choices by garjobo
