Attract blue tits
great view of the birds feeding and their acrobatics.  Regulalry filled feeders all year round will ensure you always have a good bird variety in the garden, as well of lots of natural foods for them.  Wate is also essential, as drinking and bathing by Billy C

Talkback: Magpies and mice
the smaller birds are nesting, as eggs and chicks are easy targets for them. I feed the smaller birds and between the magpies trying to steal their food and harry their nests it's a tough life. When I am in the garden they stay well clear, they are not stupid by suelynmo

Butterflies
grow other brassicas for them to eat instead - that way you get both butterflies and cabbages. At the very least if you feed the caterpillars etc to the birds you are  helping the birds. Hope Kitty4 can photograph  (to scale maybe) her caterpillars by Kitty4
