Snails
frogs, toads, hedgehogs and birds into the garden.Have you got a pond? If not maybe consider putting in a small one or make log piles to encourage them. Feed the birds too. Go out at night with a torch and you will find an awful lot more in the mean time by nodlisab

Talkback: Moving bumblebee nests
succumbed to wax moth. Did you clear out the nest before the birds moved back in? No, mine are buff-tailed bees. Wildman of Pershore - I tried that with rodent bedding, all I got was cats sniffing around! And aren't you lovely feeding wax moth caterpillars by wilscombe

Talkback: Snail attack
and caught quite a few of them. Much safer for birds and cats the most it will do is make them a bit wobbly on their legs??? We also feed the birds with milk thistle seeds and various fat soaked balls and seeds, therefore attracting several different species by Tariq

Talkback: Daffodil care
I'm going to be feeding my blind daffodils but am less confident of being able to dig them up. A few seem buried so deeply now, some of them well into the roots of Clematis, I'm afraid of killing the clems if I dig through their roots too violently by Bert

WORMCASTS
(north facing) approx. 40 sq. metres. I cannot wait for a dry day as casts are always wet due to shade. I pick up all mower cuttings. I have a strict regime for feeding the lawn. Winter low nitrogen feed to encourage root growth. Spring high nitrogen feed by BILLYC

Slugs and Snails
to research the bugs that prey on slugs - yuck Thank you for your comments. Put carpet on the ground for a while they love the dark moist conditions then after a week or two lift the carpet and put them in a bucket to feed to the chicken or let the birds have by Dolly11

Slugs and snails - help needed!!
, it would probably be daylight before I got to bed. Encourage birds to live in the garden, nest boxes, low growing ground cover, a bird bath and feeding table, a few bushes and maybe a small tree. They will restore the balance and also you will be helping by fraggle84

grass clippings at base of established azalea
to the tip every week.  I have so far been dumping the clippings at the base of an established Azalea (15ft x 15ft).   Will this damage the Azalea, or feed the roots.  Should I stop dumping the clippings there ?  Should I moderate the amount I put by Kezza

Talkback: Making leaf mould
your wife doesn’t value biodiversity. I bet she likes feeding the birds though. One of the reasons sparrows and song thrushes are declining is a loss of natural food for their young. Birds visit feeders themselves, but nearly always feed caterpillars by James Bond
