live in a very dry part of the country, even this year, but my grass never turns brown. I use a manual mower (no fighting with the cable or disturbing the peace with noisy machine), use the highest setting all season, never weed or feed and allow by Brighton Bob

Talkback: Pruning wisteria
swears by a good feed of diluted Epsom Salts for her wisteria, I think twice a year. She also gets it pruned quite hard and it is absolutely full of the most heavenly scented, long racemes! Alan Titchmarsh a couple of years ago in the magazine came up by Louise

seeds a plenty I'm growing sunflowers as well. Skyscrapers - they were outstanding last year. Sunflowers are also great for feeding birds later and at the allotments where I am in South Devon we all seem to sow bee attracting flowers for pollination by Maria
