A-Z TV gardening

Pots of summer colour in partial shade
foliage colour too. Why not plant a couple of ferns in there too? Perennials like liriope.....grass like foliage and short purple flowers in autumn....Astilbes, hellebores and Astrantias will add a perennial feel. A white hydrangea for impact by auntie betty

What is this strange plant?
to be somewhere between lichen/moss and ferns.  One of the first things I learnt about in Botany many years ago - fascinating 'plant' - it thrives in dark damp places and will disappear when conditions dry out and light levels improve.  If it survived by leisurelypainter

Tackling erosion
there at present is bramble. Ferns in other places seem to have been very effective at holding back the bank and I'd like to extend these but haven't a clue how to start. I have ferns in other places that I could split but would this be the best way to propagate by Carole Lacy
