A staghorn fern in a hanging basket.
Please can anybody tell me if i can plant my staghorn fern in an ordinary hanging basket and not a wire one.? Do you mean a solid plastic one? I would have thought so - there's nothing magic about a wire one. Just make sure it's a decent size. Yes by magant11

More on Hostas, ferns, Cow Parsley and cardio-crinums
More on hostas, I am busily creating a shady border and want to fill it with hostas, ferns and astilbes.  I have had some first class designer collection of Hostas via the internet from JJ Parker of Manchester- great plants at a great price, also by dizzylizzy

Pond planting
Hi all, I've just had to reline one of my ponds and I'm looking for a fern suitable for growing in a pile of rocks which form the waterfall. The area is NOT constantly immersed in water, though it does get splashed and damp, it is shaded and faces by Ron Hagley

Vertical gardening
Hi I have a small strip of land next to a deck and want to install a vertical garden framework of ferns. It is shady, up against a fence, overlooked by my neighbour. I really fancy a 'blade' water feature in the middle. This would create a pleasant by DOTTYPLOT

Talkback: Making a stumpery
Am thinking of doing a similar thing. I have built a pond in my garden and nearby I want to put piles of wood and ferns for the frogs and toads etc to have somewhere to hide. by ChristyRose

Carrot Problem
My carrots have grown well and are now nearly ready. I've noticed that the 'leaves' of some of the carrots are slightly frazzled ... has anybody any ideas why ? thanks Chris   Frazzled how? A bit more fern-like? If so, could be staring to go to seed. by Chris 7

Talkback: Impatiens downy mildew
I had just submitted suggestions for an area of damp shade, when I spotted the advice on the GW newsletter to: Read Pippa Greenwood's bog. Good idea. Ferns are my favourite plant for any shady spot! (Just thought I would throw that out there.) by Danny31
