Speed gardening
the first flush of flowers, but they've only just finished, in fact some are still in mid flush, so I figured feeding should be late too.  I was potting things on inbetween showers too, so spent half the day in & half out in short bursts of energy by quercus_rubur

evergreen perenial border
plant, Heucheras and Hebes. All get on well with each other, give year-round interest, are easy to look after and don't take up too much space.  I don't allow the Heucheras to flower i.e I just cut off the flower heads so that I can enjoy the foliage by bill hibbert

Small Trees For Privacy
strong winds. I am really new to gardening as to confess a little confused when looking at possible trees on websites. They show they often in flower or in Autumn and it is not easy to appreciate what they may be like all year round amd how dense they are by Adam Osbourne

Whats your plans for the garden this year?
So whats everyone's plans in the garden this year? Any challenges ahead or redesigning or adding anything exciting? I am hoping to have more time to do the borders and get good displays of flowers through the seasons and to hopefully grow more herbs by Sam Glendinning

raspberry help
control them.any advice would be great thanks. Sounds like raspberry sawfly.  The only control I know is to spray with an insecticide just before the flowers open.  Look for one which mentions the more common gooseberry sawfly in the list of pests it deals by matmats123

Colourful plants to put in large plant pots/urns
and things that spill . A mixture of orange and yellow marigolds can look good, Yellow bidens and purple heliotrope flowered beautifully and for MONTHS for me last year and the fragrance of the cherry pie was intoxicating. Mine were in large pots by front by Dave's beds

Lavender hedge!!
flowering. They need to be cut back quite hard to prevent this woodiness developing. But once it has gone woody, if you cut back into it, you won't get new growth, so it is too late to cut it out now. Just cut back as far as you can after this year's flowers by MattCUK76
