circular formal raised bed what centre piece
blackest? I would lighten the formality with an amelanchier.  I will post a picture of the one in blossom in the Bristol Univ. Botanic Garden this week and a close-up of its blossom which gives lovely little edible fruit in the autumn when the colour by blackest

Tree/shrub suggestion
Please can anyone suggest a small tree, shrub  (maybe 3'-4' ) to be grown in a container. I would like colour year round. The garden is south facing.. Thank you. Do you like formal or informal? If formal you can grow box clipped into various shapes by GiilyP

evergreen solutions
I have a tiny inner city garden, split into 4 sections. I want something evergreen for one of the sections, shoud I think hedge, or will I lose too much plantintg space? Area is approx 7ft x 5ft, triangular. Whole garden faces directly North / South by flower lady

garden and cant decide if no structured formality is better or will look silly.. i try to go for more natural look and let plants seed themselves where ever normally in othe beds.. but i am not sure about the path.. to add some height (and as to windy by gardeningfantic

really want all that lawn?-it looks very formal  and sticks to the formula of virtually straight lines with small surrounding borders If you want more cottage style plants and a cottage garden look to encourage wildlife-you are going to need more beds by John mcleod

Making new section of garden private
Hi everyone Just in process of purchasing more land to make my garden longer.  The idea is to separate the new part from the old (like rooms) my problem is i dont know what to separate it with.  Needs to be at least 6ft high to give privacy. Looked by Gardenqueen
