.Hoping this cold spell will go soon so as the toads and frogs can frolick at will. Apparently, floating a few tennis balls in a pond keeps air holes open and stops it from freezing over. I dont know how true this is, but I was told this many years ago. As a child by flowering rose

Wildlife friendly pond
brings in the birds in with the bird feeders in them. If you build it he will come -  a saying from that film - field of dreams, which is what happened with our pond we had oxygen plants in it and we got frogs, pond skaters and newts that came from around by Shropshire Lad

Hi i need some advice as my housing association are causing me greif about my ponds. Anyone know where you stand in moving/ filling in a wild life pond 4ft by 2ft preformed liner. established wildlife in the way of frogs and invertebrates. my by linda roberts

have a few questions for you, though! When did you "start" your pond? How big is it? Whereabouts in your garden is it? What plants are there? Where did the spawn come from? i.e. did a frog/toad lay it in your pond or did you bring it from somewhere else by finty

Say NO to slug food.
up.  Not even beer traps, grit, egg shells will stop them. I have a hedgehog - he must be on a diet.  I have frogs - they must be picky. I am done spending money on slug food.   So, please anyone, do you have any ideas for replacements by Amanda Livingstone

to spread corn meal around the hollyhock in the winter/spring. I was dubious but thought I had nothing to lose so I did that and no rust lasy year! You need to use corn meal not corn flour. I found it in a continental shop. i have little tree frogs that live by meadoradelfine

yellow rust on hoolyhocks
i have alot of tree frogs that live in my yard so i use no chemicals, but my hollyhocks have been attacked by what looks like bright yellow scales and brown egg like spots on the under leafs.what can i do non chemically to stop the deaths of my by danielle giampappas
