Talkback: Stag beetles
with their mouth open, full of food and sticking to the 6inches of ice we had. One frog returned to the pond and my son said "we'll have frogs this year.""Not with one frog we won't". I replied worried because he's now 13yrs. Anyway, I found a source of approx 100 by angelfreem1976

you see. I am having similar problems with slugs and thought my remedy would be a resident hedgehog but a friend has just advised me to install a mini pond to attract frogs and wildlife and this should sort out my problem with the slugs I'm not sure by diggingdoris

At wits end with carrots and slugs
resident hedgehog and loads of frogs in the garden. Tried again this year and had very successful germination only for them all to disappear only three days later. I know it's a perennial question but does anyone have any ideas.   What is really odd by Auntiemand

Ponds
We have a raised pond one side is on the patio then steps down to a small patio the garden side is a rockery.  As the pond is square and has an overhanging stone top it is difficult for the frogs, toads and newts to get in and out.  We would like by Anne Brown

Keeping Cats and Wildlife apart?
I was interested in the article about Cats in this months magazine as I have two.  The way I keep them away from the birds is to feed the birds in the front garden - its tiny but all the wildlife is out there, frogs, toads, etc, the cats have to go by ClaireCat

and stagnates the water unless you put a net over it.It must not have to much sun or a good filter is some times good but I do not use one.Make sure you leave a lip for frogs and toads to be able to climb out and plant oxygenating plants and marginal plants by Erica938

hedgehog house and im pleased to say 2nd year running now my hedgehog is back ..i like to think its the same 1 as last year.he/she is very very fat.kate,, i know its no way cold yet but today i found a dead frog in my pond....as i remember what you wrote by i grown my own
