Robins coming into the garden, so spring must be just around the corner, I hope. As I live in belgium, I didn't do the RSPB bird count but I have had loads of birds in the garden at the various feeders as well as some good sitings in the marshy paddocks by donutsmrs

Big Garden Bird Watch
I have just registered for the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch. I do this every year and I love it.Through doing it every year I have been able to see birds that I didn't realise came into my garden like the Dunnock and the Green Finch. Sitting watching by donutsmrs

Encouraging birds to the garden
Does anyone have any advice on shrubs or trees to plant that will encourage birds please?  I have a smallish garden so would need things that grow tall rather than wide and also I have two ferocious cats so I need somewhere for the birds to safely by cloud8

Funny - a friend of mine (in Kent) just posted on Facebook that he had buzzards hunting the woods behind his house this morning. They get about. My garden is usually visited by the smaller birds and nextdoors cats, that sit under the Butterfly bush by Harry Hilly

a peanut feeder and a shop bought coconut feeder. But I only get a few birds in the garden and most of the time the food in the feeders go bad. Can anyone help provide suggestion what I am doing wrong? Could it be cats about ?   They are very aware by kathryn-brock

. To date I have had 24 species of bird in my garden. I only feed them Black Sunflower seeds on the table, peanuts in metal feeders, nyjer seed in feeders, that gold finches go crazy for, they be queueing in the trees for a go. I also leave apples by fussybones

though. ;)Might be a good idea for those who feed the birds from feeders to make sure they sanitize feeders and watering containers as Avian Flu is really getting bad...Happy Gardening! I never buy biscuits in August but eat Sungold tomatoes off the vine by happymarion
