Talkback: Kestrel
Was amazed on two occasions last year to see a bird which my husband informed me was a kestrel in our back garden. On one occasion he was on the fence, the next time on top of the bird feeder. Needless to say not too many birds around the feeder by annie

Bird feeders causing weeds?
but this is very different, growing from a kind of kernel. I mentioned it to someone else who said the same thing had happened in their garden forcing them to move their feeder onto the lawn. Has anyone else noticed the same thing associated to bird seed? Yes by Surbiton_Margot

small trees that attract birds
Hi, can anyone advise me on good tree for a small garden that will attract birds? I think the ones that birds love the most are the ones that have berries in the autumn that they can munch on. Hawthorn, Rowan (mountain ash), crab apple. Thanks I by BartStew

Keeping Cats and Wildlife apart?
I was interested in the article about Cats in this months magazine as I have two.  The way I keep them away from the birds is to feed the birds in the front garden - its tiny but all the wildlife is out there, frogs, toads, etc, the cats have to go by ClaireCat

Bird box v bird feeding
Small garden. Only 10 metres by 12 metres. I've got a feeding station for birds. I get quite a lot of visitors during the day - sparrows, starlings, tits, robins, blackbirds, pigeons and magpies (annoyingly!). I've been given a sparrow terrace by Tim Burr

bird box
It's about 1.8m up from the ground, north facing, very protected with a bambooo growing over the opening and a mature ceanotus arching over it.  Crab apple in front which birds often hop onto. Many blue tits, sparrows, robins and wrens in our garden by Jess is in the Garden
