Strawberries
strawberry by themselves. One the bird has pecked them then it is a free for all for just about anything in the garden - including mold fungus.  There is an organic slug pellet that helps here, and I net them with fairly heavy netting so that the birds feet by Lalat

Talkback: Honesty seed-pods
forward to hearing more. I have some honesty plants in my garden and they are flowering in profusion right now. The plants have self sown and I think must have originally appeared via birds. They produce beautiful glimmering seed discs (pods) every year by Hilda

water and you can't really over-water strawberries in growbags.  If the birds start pecking at them (blackbirds love them), covering them with netting is about all you can do. thank you Bob the gardener. that is good to know ants dont like water, i dont by Lu

Sparrowhawk dilemma
We have a problem with a sparrowhawk, think it's a female and it's taking quite a few birds from our garden from the feeders and even the bird table , the latest being a blackbird which it grabbed from the birdtable. I went outside to try and chase by jean riley

desperate for advice please
I have a lovely yet tiny garden that i have cultivated over the last 6 years to be wildlife friendly, i have a hedgehog house that is now used on a regular basis and lots of bird feeders etc, i have a wildflower section too. my problem is that we by clints

Is it still ok to feed dried fruit to birds bearing in mind the young
just in case but they would not chop very well kept sticking together.  I did them by hand in the end but a very long job which I don't fancy doing.  The whole peanuts risk geting stuck in baby birds' throats and choking them so I expect big chunks of by Lavender Lady

What DO they put in bags of mixed birdseed?!
The birds love the birdseed and especially the sunflower seeds but I've got to laugh. In Spring I spend considerable time digging up luxurious grass (no other word for it) from around.the base of the bird table and the apple tree in which the bird by Freespirit

bird droppings
have re-built the garden we have attracted a lot of wildlife, birds included, and i have noticed a lot of there droppings on the plants, we want to put in a feeding station, in a location that enables us to enjoy viewing the birds but also keeps them by Percy-Grower
