Talkback: Nesting robins
Nice to have you back.The bird's have been picking up all the dog's fur for two week's now,We had a crow pick up more than was good for it as it just managed to get over the fence with a beak full,so much so it couldn't see where it was going by oldchippy

all a happy new year Our garden is a battle ground at the moment! I gave my husband assorted feeders & food for the birds this Christmas. There are regular stand-offs between blackbirds and robins. Watching their posturing is very interesting by Nanna greenfingers

Swing mystery solved
The mystery of the frayed garden swing has been solved....making a colour co-ordinated nest it seems!   I love to see the birds an their antics to find things for the nest.I have found allsorts in old nests of bits of plastic to tissue.I often by nadf1

I hate the damn things, nothing is keeping their numbers down. they are costantly in my garden. we have no pigions. so they pick off my song birds, i have very tame black birds & a couple of treasured thrush's. I am sick of finding feathers all over by Lone ranger

Some sort of vetch? Or lathyrus vernus? Perhaps a picture would help? It very much does sound like Common Vetch, it came up in my Mother in Laws garden this year probably from the bird feed mix she was putting out. I find them lovely plants by di5

in South Wales, ?, I am a member of Garden Bird Watch for BTO. Here in mid-Hampshire we have had long-tailed tits for many years, usually accompanied by several blue tits. They come in a flock of ten or more, and last year they brought their youngsters by Radarsmum67

Kate I remember on my way to school when I was about 8 seeing Goldfinches in some one's garden and thinking how wonderful they looked and how we never had bird's like that in our garden,I thought they were quite exotic and where did they get them by oldchippy

I would be bowled over at the sight of a sparrowhawk in the garden!! Was honoured by visits from a kestrel in the past.Now am lucky to see birds at all due to the increase in domestic cats and am concerned that the bird feeders are luring them by Jacey26

Talkback: Christmas gifts for gardeners
loved it! I wish more of my friends were gardeners, there's such a huge choice. Most gardeners love feeding the Birds too, so a bird feeder and some bird feed would make a good little present for all gardeners. It also gives you good chance to pop out by happymarion2
