still get it growing there isnt so much. I dont think any weedkiller will finish it off just persistant digging. I wish you luck. Sorry maud, I think glyphosate is the answer....correction, i know it to be the answer. From an infested garden I now have by QueenQuack

, but the roots sometimes go up to 8" deep. You must get all the little root 'nodules' out or new plants will grow. Little and often to try to eradicate it is the answer, whenever you see it dig it out thoroughly. You could try spraying with Glyphosate with a by Andrew Taylor2

Problem plant identification and irradiation!!
while the digger was turning it over and it has now spread, in part to other areas of the lawn/beds!  I even applied glyphosate, by gloved hand to the individual leaves but it killed them off and the surrounding grass!! Now I have part killed the plant by gillybean

to spray with weedkiller? some people cover with a piece of old carpeting . Or as artjak say's Dig 'em up and DON'T compost! Or cut off all the flowers and seed heads carefully so you don't spread more seed, and then  use glyphosate weedkiller to get down by Ian Hardy

Weeds vs an old rickety back
You can spray the weeds with glyphosate which only kills the plants that have had their leaves sprayed. It is best to spray when the weeds are actually gowing then it will be taken into their roots, so may be a bit early yet. It won't hurt the apple by james marshall

My concern with glyphosate spraying is with chemical drift. The neighbors behind my garden sprayed weed killer on weeds in the turf. Some of it drifted over to my garden and damaged a conifer. It took years for the poor plant to recover. So I by happymarion

months later, without any trouble. You will need to check carefully to make sure you have identified all the main stems.  Meanwhile, watch out for any new shoots emerging at ground level, and zap them with glyphosate. Young leaves absorb the stuff a lot by Moonlithare
