Mystery Plant - Help Needed
that you use glyphosate weedkiller.  This will work OK, as it travels to the roots and more or less kills stuff from the roots up.  However, this particular weed is a somewhat tough & even "waxy", so to get the glyphosate to work you need first to bruise by claireylouise90

The dreaded marestail- how do I get rid?
that this plant was around at the time of the Dinosaurs so is about 600 million years old so if they couldn't eat it to death us humans don't stand any chance of killing it off,  on the Beeb boards there was in idea that maybe Glyphosate on the roots would kill by dizzylizzy

, and they are happy for you to get rid of it, next door has ivy that comes over the top of the wall, I just chop it off whenever it comes over,  the chap next door would have a hissy fit if I killed his Ivy!  I would use a glyphosate weedkiller to get rid of the weeds by Dani167

) need at least 2-4 hours exposure to Roundup, at 8 degrees or above, for it to be ingested into the plant. So best applied on a warm dry day. Not sure glyphosate works at this time of the year. I believe it needs plants to be actively growing by Briggsy

Talkback: Removing weeds
are very persistant of those you have described, a cardboard or plastic cover would be more ecological to stifle the weed growth.have they invented a weed killer which doesnt harm the soil and its millions of inhabitants? Glyphosate is inactivated by Elizabeth Bellis-Sheldon

how do i get rid of ivy on my walls Sometimes severing the main stem near ground level, then cutting out the next section by about 6-12" can be very effective. What are your walls made of? As figrat has said. Spray new growth with a glyphosate by sharon buckingham
