Soap spray
Like everyone it seems, I'm overwhelmed by greenfly and whitefly.  I tend to only use soap spray (made with washing up liquid) on the roses, as I like to leave the rest for the birds/insects.  However I'm now getting overwhelmed with them by lindsay2610

What plant is this?
Hi all I'm very new to gardening and have no idea what this could be. But there seem to be a lot of ants liking the purple buds on it?   Thanks Looks like a peony if I turn my head to the left. Have a look for greenfly which the ants may be farming by Sazac

My Sweetpea haven't done well at all. Not really that many flowers, foliage not green and healthy and they have been covered in greenfly. I have had a few pickings off them and the perfume from the ones I've picked have been glorious. I've loved by donutsmrs

Talkback: Hoverfly puparia
. Plus the larva eat aphids so they are welcome in my garden any day. :) I quite agree with Honesty the more hoverflies the less greenfly. I find it unbelievable, that a post on birds in the garden will attract a deluge of comments, but one such as yours by HeavyHorse

overwinter. The autumn began badly for them, with a bad attack of greenfly in the room where they were so I put them outside for a brief period, and sprayed them with a low dose of mild detergent. After a few fairly mild days of wind and rain the greenfly had by Dinah

. Uncurl the leaves and see if there are any green fly inside? Conflicting temperatures-they will grow out of it-we have had hot sunshine and now cool days. Just happens-do you shade the greenhouse? There isn't any greenfly and I don't shade the greenhouse by Angela4
