Ground cover plants - suggestions
I'm looking for suggestions of good ground covering plants. It's for a border area, around the edge of a lawn with a large hedge behind the border. I'm looking for plants that will spread a thick "carpet" the width and length of the border, not grow by Kevin

Ground cover plants through a fabric mulch
The whole idea of successful plantings of ground cover is that you choose the sort of plants that will spread and therefore cover the ground.  As you have covered the ground with landscaping membrane even if you make holes in it to plant plants by Michael K

HELP !!!!!what about ground cover plants- does it work?
I read in a gardening paper that planting ground cover plants will supress weeds , Since I have a bigger than average garden and getting on in years I am all for ANYTHING that keeps weeds to a minimum. I have borders and flowerbeds at least 2 meters by lucky3

i have a north facing small garden covered  with pea shingle i am after ground cover seeds that i can grow on  any ideas please Hi nip, try ivy, dog violet, vinca, and cranesbill geraniums. These are all low growing and grow happily in shade. Best by nip

Please suggest plants for ground cover, scented preferrably that would flower through out summer. thanks Hardy geraniums are prob best groundcover to flower throughout the summer ..nice pink ones like Russell Pritchard, blue like Orion, Ann folkard by kkt

shade loving ground cover
i am sortint out my mums garden, an there is one area that has a lot of shade, i would like to put a ground covering plant with some colour, can anyone recomend one Lamium maculatum is lovely, It doesn't mind what the soil conditions by Tigger Tom

Ground Cover
I have a gravelled area of 40 square metres. I would like to plant low growing gound cover ( 4 to 6 inches high ) prolific flowering or multi coloured leaf possibly. What do you think of 'Heuchera ?'. Any suggestions please ? You don't say if it by Stephen Lawrence

How to Cover Ground in the Shade
, a place of contemplation.  The grass under the tree, with table and chairs, does not grow much. So what can we do about the bare ground? My first thought is to put paving of some sort down ,leaving a clear circle of soil round the catalpa trunk. I by Lluvia
