Ground Elder
sure that you cover any wanted  plants, and then spray thoroughly with a glyphosate-base weedkiller. The ground elder will appear to grow better than ever for a few days, but then start to look sickly. You will probably have to apply the weedkiller by LouatLarches

KILLING IVY
Would mulch or some kind of covering eradicate ivy? We have a well established section that covers the whole bed & the roots are impossible to remove! Use a glyphosate spray or gel-like Roundup-but you might have to repeat the treatment a couple by Dahlia2

cotton wool like substance - like candy floss. i raked the ground first and then re-seeded ground and covered with light covering of sand and soil. how can i tell if it is effective? will it effect new seed? should i buy some more in case? it had by pampam

planting under laurels
perrenials and ground cover if possible to fill a fairly large gap. Any suggestions please? periwinkle   seems to grow anywhere   but can get a bit out of control if not carfull  Have got periwinkle in other shady areas - would like something different by Standen1

actually come to remove it you will find all sorts of nasties hiding underneath. The ground doesn't really need to be covered for the whole winter as the weather will break up any large clods of soil for you. Black plastic is normally used for a couple by christine croft

What to grow in place of a large broom that I rashly cut down
  vegetablebeds. Also the area beneath it is pretty covered in creeping buttercup, which I'm struggling to get rid off. So what can I plant to replace the broom? And what about ground cover to help with the weeds? PS. I am trying to follow my predecessors chemical by Help I'm new to this

Carrots
and beetroots in the same bed but they were not touched. They are all growing under cover also and i cant seem to find out why. Slugs? Could be but i didnt see any traces of slug trail which you can normally see. Unfortunately, slugs and snails don't always by stevie048

bind weed in compost bin!
If I emptied my green compost bin and covered the ground with weed suppressant fabric and started again, would this stop the problem. Weed coming in from neighbours wild patch. Could I use the contaminated compost if I went through it and got rid by Sue H

to is effective against ground elder. It has some chemical effect via the roots which deters ground elder from growing. Sounds good to me! Not sure if it works on bindwind though - you may need to do some more research? My experience of the couch grass by barton
