shade loving ground cover
variegated ground elder there, it lightens up the area and looks wonderful.  As it has to really struggle for life it does not spread, it had s been there for about 10 years now, and remains more or less in place.  It is never, ever allowed to flower, it does by Tigger Tom

to struggle with elders myself. They like moist good soil but seem temperamental on my ground. Is ground too dry....leaves will abort then Defo slugs- they have been at my 2 dark leaved ones.  Beer trap or pellets is the best option.  My garden is full by DENISE MAJER

I had two composting boxes built a couple of years ago in an area of the garden that was thick with bindweed and ground elder and subsequently the bases of the boxes are sitting on several layers of thick membrane. I have covered to tops by Big Pete

mystery orchid?
of black plastic i have put down to get rid of ground elder. any ideas? Picture would help Himalayan honeysuckle? Could it be Himalyan Balsam? It has pretty pink or lilac flowers and hollow stems and it grows in wild and shady places. It can be an absolute by Andrew Earl2

to is effective against ground elder. It has some chemical effect via the roots which deters ground elder from growing. Sounds good to me! Not sure if it works on bindwind though - you may need to do some more research? My experience of the couch grass by barton

with the large leaves? Is so, take heart. It used to be here and it isn't now. My equivalent is enchanter's nightshade. Quite pretty but as invasive as ground elder. The person who gave it to me warned me but I didn't take it seriously. by auntyconcrete2
