glorious in full flower on road and rail embankments so perhaps this is why it is more tolerated. i believe this is the time to paint the flowers with a glyphosate solution to get rid of it. I have both ground elder and bindweed and having tried to garden by Middle Man

Planting out pot grown roses
Hi everyone, I have over a dozen 12 inch "kiftsgate" climbing rose plants which are getting stressed waiting in pots. I intend to plant them along an old stock fence, and train them along it, through the wild fuschia bushes and Elders that have by Dinah

What does rotivation do?
you tried one yourself. You can hire them by the day. Another disadvantage is that if there are nasty perrenial weeds such as couch grass, horsetail, bindweed, ground elder to name but 4 ( there are lots more), the rotovator will chop them up by Jamesyjables

any idea what it is
in the ground and like ground elder you think you've dug it all out but then back it comes if you've left the tiniest bulb behind.  It spreads mercilessly.  Enjoy it in the local woods and plant an Italicum instead - much prettier leaves and more controllable by trifid house

The dreaded marestail- how do I get rid?
the various methods.  Will use a weedkiller, plant up with annuals for this season and see what comes up next year. Will pull each one up when I see it!  Will let you know next year if I can see a difference. Also have ground elder in another area so by dizzylizzy

Mossy lawn
Last year I offered to mow the lawn (about 50 square metres) of an elderly friend. However, I found myself mowing moss rather than grass. I would like to change this moss lawn into a grass one, but my friend does not want to have to put up by Les2

Fine Green beans in the shops
can remember as a child I HATED broad beans, but really enjoy them now. It helps I think if you can shell them if they're a bit on the elderly side. Butter beans...mmmmm! I left some runners (Moonlight I think was the variety) to dry in their pods a by BrummieBen

Theft of Patio Planters and Containers
as it sounds like you are having problems with theft.I take it there's not an option to make your patio more secure? Intruder alert lights.  A video camera to catch them at it.  Secure the access to your patio with locked gates.   Attach them to the ground by Pat Mansfield

Talkback: Controlling weeds
't work for some weeds such as ground elder, mare's tail and other creepers as they just burrow along and come up further along. I have lifted membrane before now only to find spaghetti jungle of roots underneath, even after months being covered by Reluctant Gardener
