Quick growing rhododendron or azalea - is there such a thing?
colour pics!   http://www.glendoick.com/index.php?page=onlinecat&listcat=1 I bought a few Azalea from Morrisons and Homebase last year. The Morrisons one was £5 I think and it has trebled in size to about 50cm by 70cm. Rhoddies grow large and fast - esp by happycottontail

Azalea
Can somebody please tell me when to prune my potted azalea? Has it overgrown? I never prune my potted azaleas, they grow too slowly. If you want to give it a trim, wait until it blooms (it will be soon), but be sparing. There is a nice link here by chainsawsal

encouragement for azaleas
we have a small, shady garden. how can I encourage our azaleas to grow up rather than out? thanks You could turn it into a standard, I had one given to me on Mothers Day and it is still full of flowers. Guess you would need to find a central stem by jackthecat

How did I kill my Calluna?
.  Do you think I've frazzled them in my south facing spot? Or could it be watering them with tap water? (my camellia are ok though and they've been tap watered so it can't be that my tap water is very alkaline.) I grow mine in Eracsius compost  and give by Supernoodle

Chillpings
Chillpings, where can I get them? Hi Vivienne, Firtree clippings and conifer clippings are acidic - I don't grow fruit so I'm  not sure if this is what your friend meant.  Great for Rhoddies and azaleas as a mulch though. by Vivienne Horner

Azalea disease
Hi We have an Azalea growing in a pot on the porch and have had it for 6 months...sorry no idea of the variety. It has developed a white fungus on some of the outer leaves and main stem (sorry no pictures). The leaves appear to swell up by Brycey D

Know your soil type
by helping avoid buying pants that are totally wrong for their plot. I agree that new gardeners should know their soil type, but whatever happened to a bit of common sense. If you are in a Cornish valley surrounded by Azaleas that you will probably have by christopher2

Shade loving plants
Has anyone got any suggestion for the  long narrow garden at the side of my house, it gets very little sun along the border next to a low fence. I want something that will grow  quite quickly to about 2 mtrs maximum , preferable with flowers by Sizeyuk1
