In my garden rockery in the gaps between the plants there always grows a lot of moss. I usually remove it by scraping it off but this also is removing the topsoil.do you have any suggestions how else I can get rid of it.?thank you. hello there my by lizzyslot

in this field. I have a patch of about 8feet by four feet. Can you pls advise me how to prepare the soil and what can I plant at this time of the year. I tried to grow some vegetables, but did not succeed excepet cherry tomatoes grew in abundence. Thanks by Kathryn

is it and where is it growing? I had a very mature mass of the stuff to clear. The roots were huge, the growth immediately above the roots about 3" across. It was also growing against various dry stone walls, meaning it had rooted itself in the walls as it spread by jackie grigg

a good idea to put cardboard and / or newspapers into a trench before you plant beans and leeks. DO I TEAR UP THE CARDBOARD AND PAPER OR JUST LAY IT IN ? Hannah_Banana_ Runner beans grow tall, about 6 feet or so!  They need plenty of water, so out by Hannah_Banana_

Advice on repotting my tomato plants please.
will struggle to get much fruit to ripen before the cold sets in.   But if they don't all ripen, they'll make marvellous chutney, and we like them sliced and fried with bacon. Also, put green tomatoes in a brown paper bag with a ripe banana and they'll ripen by Insomnia1973

next year? You're lucky you even got some fruit!! Mine went without a fruit in sight. Help!! I should have said (06/08/07 above) mine are in bottomless pots outside in 3 grow bags with 1 litre upside down, bottomless tonic bottles in the bags to get by marybakers

I wondered if anyone else uses the beautiful tall structural plant cephalaria in their wild life gardens. They have large pale lemon scabious type flowers and bees just love them, often several bees seem attracted to just one flower head. I grow by chongolologirl

but they are still green should I pick them and put them in a bowl with a banana to see if they will ripen? I too am relatively new to raspberry growing having moved to a house which has them in the garden. I have some very large rasps with thorny stems by Keith Powney

over wintering strelitzia in greenhouse
ive just purchased a strelitzia for my patio, i over winter cordylines, bananas and washingtonias in my greenhouse, which is heated with a 4ft tube heater,, will these strelitzia plants come through with such minimul heat? What is the minimum by mlcandrjl

too. Cordylines do well in their garden. Bamboo isnt realy a tropical plant but creates a tropical look and can handle cold weather. Ferns another tropical looking plant that can handle colder weather & of course Hostas.  Bananas Musa species Musa by bluejan
